Input-Output Model Documentation (I-O)

Emsi has produced two technical documents that walk through how we construct our input-output (I-O) model. Both are intended for readers with considerable familiarity with I-O theory who are looking for an understanding of our specific method.

In Emsi I-O Model Documentation: Establishing the NAICS 6-digit US Base Model, we detail the features of our model and pay particular attention to the expanded US national I-O technology matrix that covers each of the roughly 1,000 NAICS 6-digit industry classification codes—a feature unique to the Emsi I-O model. In Emsi Multi-Regional Social Accounting Matrix (MR-SAM) Modeling System, we present details on the social accounting matrix (SAM) model we developed in 2012 to take the place of our previous input-output model. Download this paper.
